October 28, 2011

Who doesn’t love to jet-set for a weekend or pack a bag for a long adventure? Our team has been lucky enough to visit some of the greatest cities in the world and we’re always looking forward to the next great trip. Check out where the travel bug has taken us and where we’re dying to go next:

  • Brazil – Two things are important to us – beautiful beaches and awesome food.  We can get both here!

  • Vegas –Viva Las Vegas!  It’s the best vacation spot for a much needed weekender and a great place for reunions, parties and vacations!

  • Spain – Any place that is home to Gaudi architecture and delicious Calimocho sounds amazing in our book!

  • PeruFrom sand boarding in the little village of Huacachina to hiking up to the breathtaking views of Machu Picchu – Peru is a unique and adventurous escape from reality!

  • Hawaii – We haven’t been back in a few years and there’s nothing like the peace and tranquility of the ocean, no matter which island you visit.

  • Italy – Un giorno ho voglia di visitare l’Italia e trascorrere settimane viaggiare per il paese, mangiare il cibo e amorevole. Translation? One day I want to visit Italy and spend weeks traveling the country, eating the food and loving it all.

  • Bora BoraWho wouldn’t want to stay in a tiki hut on the water, eat tropical foods, enjoy tropical drinks, lay out on the white sand beaches, take a boat ride into the clear blue water, and go fishing? We sure do!

  • Dubai – We’ve never been, but the photos are breathtaking and we’re always up for a new adventure!

Mobile Social Media Taking Over the World, One App at a Time

Mobile social networking is continuing to grow — as if our team didn’t see that coming.  As mentioned in our Friday Favorites last week, our team uses apps for just about everything. Smart phones continue to evolve in efficiency and allow us to perform practically any function possible, as there is always “an app for that.”

New statistics from comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, recently revealed that 72.2 million Americans accessed social networking sites or blogs on their mobile device during this past August alone. This marks an impressive 37 percent increase over the previous year. The study also provided new insights into how mobile users interact with social media, finding that more than half read multiple posts from an organization, brand or event while on their mobile device.

Increasingly, users are accessing social media sites through various apps. While the audience for mobile browsing of social networks grew 24 percent over the past year, the social networking app audience grew 126 percent to 38.5 million people.

We’ve seen firsthand how the rise of social media has affected our lives and has changed the way we do things – both in work and play.  The stats continue to prove one thing: social media is here to stay.

Dana Point Turkey Trot Announces New Enhancements for Upcoming Thanksgiving Day Race

The Bolt team is gearing up to run this year’s Dana Point Turkey Trot and we couldn’t be more excited to lace up our running shoes for this Southern California tradition!

The Dana Point Turkey Trot has announced a wide array of race enhancements for the upcoming 34th annual Thanksgiving Day run. Organizers of the Dana Point Turkey Trot, including the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce and RUN Racing, have joined together as a team to incorporate participants’ feedback, offering runners what is expected to be the biggest and best race to date. Adding to those numbers, nearly half of registered participants to date are running the Dana Point Turkey Trot for the first time.

The 2011 Turkey Trot race enhancements include wave starts based on anticipated race times to alleviate congestion, stroller-specific wave starts, and widening of the lane for the finish-line shoot. And for the first time, every Dana Point Turkey Trot participant will receive a finisher medal and enjoy an improved finish line festival. In addition, the Dana Point Turkey Trot will host a two-day health and fitness expo for all participants. The health and fitness expo, held Nov. 23 and 24 will offer an abundance of exhibitor booths that will include the latest and greatest the wellness industry has to offer, as well as expert speakers. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about topics ranging from proper shoe fitting and nutrition, and will even have the chance to get a book signed by Sarah Reinertsen, the first female leg amputee to complete the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

For more information about the 34th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot, visit http://www.turkeytrot.com and follow the event on Twitter at http://twitter.com/turkeytrot and Facebook at http://facebook.com/danapointturkeytrot.
